Ordinary people serving an extraordinary God
|
The first time you visit us...
We want you to know that you are welcome and we are glad that you are here! In order that you may be more at ease as you worship with us, we would like you to understand the structure of the classes and services of our congregation.
If you are here for Bible class...
Every Sunday at 10am we have Bible classes for every age group from infants to adult. We also offer classes for all ages on Wednesday at 7:30pm and an adult class at 10am. To find your classroom, check the guides at the entrances or just ask someone to help you (they won't mind a bit). Please feel free to ask questions or comment in the discussions. At the conclusion of the Sunday morning class there is a 15 minute break before we being our worship together in the auditorium.
Our Worship...
At the conclusion of the announcements we begin our worship with accapella singing intermixed with public prayers and scripture reading. Don't worry about when it's time to stand or sit, the song leader will let you know. You are encouraged to join in the singing, prayer and to follow along in your Bible during the scripture reading.
The Lord's Supper (Communion)...
As Christians we celebrate the Lord's Supper every Sunday. The unleavened bread and the fruit of the vine are passed before every person in attendance. Should you partake? That's up to you. No one will be upset by your decision.
Giving (Offering)...
At some point in the service a collection will be made by the passing of an offering plate. This is for our members. You are not expected to give but can if you would like.
Lesson and Invitation...
About one half of our worship service is devoted to the study of God's word. At the end of the lesson we stand and sing a hymn of invitation. This hymn is sung for those who want to respond in a public way to the Lord. Some come to ask for prayers or to confess their faults. Others may indicate their desire to become a Christian and put on Christ in baptism. If you feel the need to respond, but are unsure about what to do, just talk with the minister privately. He will be glad to talk with you.
Questions...
Chances are there will be something said or done in our classes or services that you will want to know more about. Please feel free to ask.
